DEMOCRATS FOR LIFE SUPPORT THE PROTECTING PAIN-CAPABLE UNBORN CHILDREN FROM LATE-TERM ABORTION ACT

Democrats For Life is proud to support the Protecting Painnborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act introduced by Congressman Lindsey Graham (R-SC)  today.  The legislation would limit abortion after 15 weeks, bringing the United States more in line with Europe, which generally limits abortion to the first trimester.

States across America, like California and New York, are moving toward abortion policies that are more like those of China and North Korea, which have no limits or regulations on abortion. 

We encourage Senator Graham to include with the legislation an expansion of access to Perinatal Hospice for women facing a disheartening prenatal diagnosis. We urge Democrats in the House and Senate to work to support a whole life package to include the necessary support for pregnant women and their families. We suggest expanding the Child Tax Credit, adoption support and tax relief, parental leave, and many other provisions included in Senator Rubio’s Providing for Life Act, which we also endorse.  

Foremost, our leaders need a unified message: pregnancy resources centers are critical partners in supporting pregnant women and reducing the numbers of women seeking abortion out of desperation or fear, whether physical, emotional, or economic. 

Common ground, common sense, and consensus building are the duties of our elected representatives. Democrats and Republicans must work together for the common good.
